You're old enough to be told this straight, so here it is: what CloseKin knows, who can see it, and how to stop it whenever you want.

What we know about you

Your email address, so you can sign in.
The name and cartoon face you choose.
The answers you write, and the moods you tap.
That's it. No phone number, no address, no photos of you.

Who can read your answers

Only the one person you're connected to — your parent or guardian.
They can't see your answer until you've both answered. No peeking, for either of you.
No other family, no other young person, and nobody at your school can see any of it.

What we never do

We don't track where you are.
We don't read your messages, your browsing or your screen time.
We don't sell anything about you, and we don't run adverts.
We don't read your answers to check up on you.

Why there's a streak

The flame just counts the days you both answered. It's meant to be a nudge, not a trap.
Miss a day and it survives. Miss two and it starts again — nothing bad happens either way.
Nobody is told off for losing a streak, and nobody else sees it.
If it stops feeling fun, you can just ignore it. It changes nothing else in the app.

Your choices

You never have to answer a question. Skipping one is fine.
You choose whether to get reminder emails or phone nudges, and you can turn them off any time.
You can ask to see everything we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
You can leave the connection, or delete your account completely, from your Profile. Deleting is instant and can't be undone.

If something feels wrong

Tap 'Need help?' on any screen and tell us. A real person reads it.
If you're worried about your safety, or someone else's, please talk to an adult you trust.
CloseKin isn't an emergency service. Childline is 0800 1111, Samaritans is 116 123, and 999 is always there.

CloseKin is a conversation space for families aged 13 and over. It is not a monitoring tool, not a crisis service, and not a substitute for professional help. In an emergency, call 999.
